HPGE Eco-Logical Thinkers
About this program
This is a High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE) Program with a specific focus on ecosystems. Rumbalara will work with students to explore the amazing world of ecosystems and the creatures that live within them. The program will cater for HPGE students with diverse needs, providing meaningful and engaging activities to extend their intellectual, creative and social-emotional abilities.
Students will examine a local unique ecological community. The program is hands-on, encouraging collaboration and critical thinking to uncover the unique interactions between animals and their environment.

This program is designed to develop the talent of students who show high potential in the intellectual, social/emotional and creative domains. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of students who show an interest and advanced aptitude in multiple key learning areas and would benefit from an enrichment day of learning in the outdoors. This will be achieved through explicit teaching, challenging learning that extends students, high expectations and providing unique opportunities for students to learn.
Important information
Students participate in 3 days HPGE Days in Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3 (one day per term).
Cost: $30 per student for each day i.e. $90 total per student.

Rumbalara staff can run extra sessions at your school to assist with work between sessions. Alternatively, students can complete as homework activity.
- The program will accept up to 4-6 students (Stage 3) from 6 schools to participate in the program.
- ‘Eco-Logical Thinkers’ will include 3 Workshop Days at Rumbalara EEC (or another location). Additionally, some time will be required to work on the project during school time.
- Rumbalara EEC staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance where required throughout the duration of the project.
- Expression of Interest (EOI) will be distributed to schools early Term 1. Principals and teachers are asked to identify students who are suited to participate in this program. Students may then submit an EOI, which must be approved by their parent/guardian and also their school Principal.
- Participating students will be provided with the opportunity to meet an ecologist, use specialised scientific equipment and conduct field work.
- EOIs close TBC.
