HPGE iPad Photography Workshop

About this program

The iPad Photography Workshop offers students a hands-on, creative opportunity to explore the art of photography using accessible technology. Throughout the program, students will gain a solid understanding of fundamental photography concepts such as composition, framing, lighting, and focus. They will develop technical skills by learning to use the iPad camera features, including zoom, exposure, and timer functions.

Students will apply creative techniques like the rule of thirds and experiment with different angles and perspectives to capture balanced and visually engaging images. The workshop also covers the effective use of natural and artificial lighting as well as elements of macrophotography in nature, enhancing their ability to capture detailed patterns, textures, and colours.

In addition to photography skills, students will learn to edit their photos using built-in iPad apps to adjust brightness, contrast, cropping, and filters, helping them to refine their final images. Emphasising storytelling, the program encourages students to capture photos that convey narratives or emotions, fostering both creativity and attention to detail.

The workshop also addresses ethical considerations in photography, promoting respect and privacy for all subjects.

At the end of the workshop, all students will be given a framed copy of their chosen piece of work.
