HPGE Numeracy in Nature
About this program
Join us for a High Potential & Gifted Education (HPGE) Numeracy in Nature Day!
The program covers elements of the creative, intellectual and social-emotional domains.
Rumbalara EEC teachers will come to your school as an incursion to identify students who have an interest in Maths and would benefit from developing their environmental maths skills at a high level.
The identified students will then be invited to participate in a second full day environmental maths workshop with a specialised maths teacher and environmental scientist.
Program activities
Use your maths skills to explore nature within your school environment!
Students will work in small groups to move through a variety of activities located around the school grounds.
At the end of this day, students will be able to apply mathematical concepts and skills to practical activities in nature. Instructions will be provided and assistance as required, to allow student groups to independently reach conclusions and obtain data.
This session will involve hands-on teamwork activities involving "maths in the environment".

Use your maths skills to explore nature!
Using navigation, measurement, shapes and angles, patterns and symmetry, graphing and biostatistics - discover the mystery of maths in nature.
Option 1: 1 day
Session 1: Incursion - 40 minute session to identify HPGE students
Session 2: Incursion - 2 hour HPGE workshop with identified students
Option 2: 2 days
Day 1: Incursion - 40 minute session to identify HPGE students
Day 2: Incursion or offsite - 2 hour HPGE workshop with identified students
