About this excursion
Join us for a fascinating day out at Wyrrabalong National Park, where we will explore the importance of conserving this spectacular place. Students will explore Wyrrabalong National Park’s beautiful diverse landscapes. Students will use geographical information to build an understanding of the environment, discuss its history, and observe how the National Park is used by different people and discuss why the area should be protected.
Learning Intentions and Success Criteria
We are learning to:
- use geographical information to build understanding of an environment
We can:
- locate and compare the features of an environment using maps
- describe conservation and sustainability practices used in this area.
- we can explain the importance of this place in reference to the Aboriginal Peoples’.
Learning Experiences
The bushwalk allows students to locate different habitats and record tracks and traces of animals, as well as observe the conservation and management of the National Park. Scratch art will be used to illustrate the different types of plants.
Bateau Bay is a great place to observe migrating whales (north) between June/ July and (south) between September/ October. The difference between Humpback Whales and Southern Right Whales will be explained and students use binoculars to hopefully make a sighting (Seasonal).
