About this excursion
Join us on our fascinating Aboriginal Heritage excursion where students will discover the traditional lifestyles of the Aboriginal Peoples’ who lived on the Central Coast. They will understand the importance of connection to Country through an exploration of Brisbane Water National Park. Students will engage in hands-on activities throughout the day where they will learn an appreciation for the world’s oldest continuous living Culture.
Rumbalara can organise an Aboriginal presenter to work alongside our educators. This could incur an additional cost per student. Please phone the Centre to find out more.

Learning Experiences
Students will engage in an interactive exploration of Aboriginal tools and resources, such as boomerangs, spears and axes, gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal Culture and lifestyle. Through inquiry-based learning, they will answer questions and examine both primary and secondary sources to enrich their knowledge.
Students will investigate aspects of Aboriginal life by using fire sticks and will brainstorm reasons why fire would have been important to the Aboriginal Peoples’ when caring for Country.
The Bulgandry Art Site Aboriginal Place will be viewed and compared to the engraving site at Girrakool.
Students will have the option to be painted with ochre as a mark of respect to our traditional custodians. If time allows, students will participate in activities that include an Aboriginal game and a drawing of the engravings.
