Early Stage 1 Science and Technology - Bush Picnic Incursion

About this Incursion

This exciting Kindergarten program invites students to explore their local environment within or close to their school. Through interactive games, sensory activities, and a guided bushwalk, students will explore nature, learn about the needs of living things, and discover how to care for Country.

Incursion Activities

Introductory game
Using their own Australian soft toy animals, students will discuss animals of the local environment and explore the basic needs of plants and animals. They will then play a P.A.W.S (Plants for food, Air, Water, Shelter) tag game to reinforce these concepts.
Other activities
Rumbalara teachers will choose some activities that suit the location in your school grounds. Activities may include designing animal shelters, using magnifying glasses, making leaf and bark rubbings and playing an Aboriginal game with an environmental message. A teacher may be asked to lead a Rumbalara activity, depending on student numbers.
