Join us for the HPGE Environmental Art Day and connect with nature!

The program is an exceellent way to support High Potential and Gifted Eduvation (HPGE) students and will cover elements of the creative, intellectual and social-emotional domains.

Use your arts skills to explore nature within Rumbalara Reserve!

Students will work in small groups to move through a variety of activities located at Rumbalara Reserve.

Students will:

  • Hear an introduction by Nick Carson Environmental Education Officer Central Coast Council. Why are Regent Honeyeaters endangered and where have they been located on the Central Coast.
  • Participate in an art workshop with renowned artist Jenny McCracken.
  • Walk through Rumbalara Reserve observing Regent Honeyeater habitat and food sources.
  • Collect, observe and draw some food source indicators: a Eucalypt flower, a gumnut, Mistltoe flower or leaf.
  • Artist Mentor Workshop & draw a Regent Honeyeater. Students fill in different honeyeater features into blank grey bird silhouettes based on sample full colour image provided.
  • Students then challenge each other to identify the different honeyeaters they have detailed.
